Ukrainians opened a record number of individual enterprises in Poland

Ukrainian business in Poland.

Institute for Economic Leadership

The Polish Economic Institute estimated that Ukrainians have registered more than 29,000 individual enterprises in Poland since the beginning of the full-scale war. At the same time, 14,000 of them were registered this year, which is 67% of all new foreign businesses.

Before the start of the full-scale war, Ukrainians registered no more than 200 individual enterprises in Poland (January, February 2022). Instead, from 2023, more than 2,000 new Ukrainian businesses will appear there every month.

Regarding the success of Ukrainian business, it is known that since the beginning of 2022, only 3% of firms created by Ukrainians have closed.

On the one hand, we can be happy for the entrepreneurship of Ukrainians who are successfully integrating in a new country.

On the other hand, this news reminds us that the outflow of human capital is one of the key problems that Ukraine will have to face during post-war reconstruction.

And the return of Ukrainians from abroad depends not only on victory on the battlefield, but also on whether the state will be able to create the necessary conditions for the return, reintegration and realization of its citizens
