Ukraine’s economy in 2023: World Bank forecasts worsened

Will grow by only 0.5% - World Bank on the economy of Ukraine in 2023.

  • After falling by 29.2% in 2022, the Ukrainian economy will grow by 0.5% this year, and by 3.5% in 2024. Earlier, World Bank experts expected faster growth of Ukrainian GDP (by 3.3% in 2023 and by 4.1% in 2024).
  • The poverty level in Ukraine, which jumped from 5.5% to 24.1% in 2022, will remain at the same level in 2023 — 24%. According to SB calculations, 7.1 million people were below the poverty line.
  • The cost of reconstruction and restoration of Ukraine has currently increased to $411 billion, which is more than twice the size of the pre-war economy of Ukraine in 2021.
