The Verkhovna Rada adopted the draft budget for 2024

The draft budget for 2024 was adopted in the first reading. Key:
 
The budget foresees revenues in the amount of UAH 1.7 trillion. Expenditures will amount to UAH 3.3 trillion. The marginal volume of the deficit is foreseen in the amount of UAH 1.6 trillion.
 
The priority is defense and security, more than half of all budget resources – almost UAH 1.7 trillion – will be directed to this. Of these, about 56 billion UAH are for defense production and more than 48 billion UAH are for the replenishment and expansion of the drone army.
 
Among the proposals that the government should take into account when preparing the draft law for the second reading are the following:
 

• increase of planned budget revenues by almost UAH 10 billion in case of adoption of the draft law on taxation of banks (it has already been voted on in the first reading);
• additional reduction of expenses for construction, repairs and property purchases in various authorities;
• reduction of expenditures on the Bureau of Economic Security and redirection of freed funds for the purchase of scanners for customs at railway checkpoints;
• Allocation of additional resources for prosthetics for the military and for educational subsidies.
