Mask show stop. When will the state stop interfering with business development?

Yesterday, the network was shaken by the news about searches in the office of the large IT company MacPaw and at the home of its founder. According to the law enforcement officers, the searches took place through land plots that the company purchased in 2016-2021. At the same time, the company noted that it was ready to hand over all the necessary documents to the law enforcement officers anyway.

It is interesting that the highest officials constantly declare that the IT sector is a priority for the development of Ukraine. But in fact law enforcement officers can intervene in the work of even one of the largest companies and hinder its activities.

The Minister of Digital Affairs came to the defense of MacPaw, he advocated the urgent adoption of the law on «Mask Show Stop». Laws with such «code» names were already adopted in 2017 and 2018. Whether another law will change the situation when the authorities share the opinion that «business is a goose that needs to be plucked» is a rhetorical question.

The story of MacPaw became the best demonstration of the investment climate in Ukraine and the state’s attitude to business. It is impossible to call on the big screens to invest in Ukraine and at the same time allow situations when law enforcement officers conduct such groundless searches.

Finally, an interesting fact for reflection: in general, over the past year, the largest IT companies of Ukraine opened more than 30 new offices in other countries, most Poland, Germany and Romania. If the state does not change its attitude towards business, there will undoubtedly be more of them.
