How do Ukrainians see the future of Ukraine? Paradoxical survey results

The majority of Ukrainians still have paternalistic expectations from the state.

Institute for Economic Leadership

Before the Independence Day of Ukraine, the Sociological Group “Rating” conducted a survey, which, in particular, discussed the vision of the future economic system.

It is interesting that the respondents want Ukraine to:

  • there was free medicine (61%) and education (57%);
  • did not sell land to foreigners (57%);
  • the state, not the individual, was responsible for increasing the population’s income (53%).

But at the same time, we would also like to have a free market economy (58%), a high level of democracy (64%) and media freedom (75%).

Those who support paternalistic views tend to believe that stagnation awaits Ukraine. Instead, people of liberal views believe that the country is waiting for development.
