24% of Ukrainians live below the poverty line

The level of poverty is increasing in Ukraine.

In Ukraine, the poverty level has increased to 24%, and another 7.1 million Ukrainians are below the poverty line.

 

Before the full-scale invasion, 5.5% of Ukrainians lived below the poverty line. According to the scale of the World Bank, this means earning less than 6.85 dollars (252 hryvnias) per day.

 

The World Bank noted that the unemployment rate in Ukraine is actually 36%, and inflation has reached 26.6% at the end of 2022. The prices of food, fuel and services increased the most, sometimes by 40-50%.

 

The poverty rate may increase further in 2023, up to 55% (October 2022 forecast).

 

In 2022, residents of Ukrainian villages felt the greatest worsening of the economic situation.
